Why Other Moves Fail

The traps: The only "trap" here is fear. A beginner might be afraid to move their King to the center of the board, but in this specific geometry, the f3 cannot deliver a follow-up check immediately. Stepping aside with Ke7 is a "ghost-scare" that turns a winning position into a losing one by simply giving away a piece for nothing.

How To Find The Only Good Move
