Why Other Moves Fail

The traps: Most players instinctively play Bg2 to complete the fianchetto, but this is a positional error. Without the d4 pawn, Black's central duo of d5 and e5 becomes a steamroller. You avoided the "autopilot" trap that catches 1500-rated players 80% of the time!

How To Find The Only Good Move

Step 1 — Recognize the critical moment: Black has already placed a pawn on d5. If you don't challenge that space now, Black will follow up with e5, creating a massive central advantage.
