Bc4! — The Only Good Move!

⚠️ Critical position — You found the needle in the haystack! While Black is currently better, this is the only move that keeps White in the fight by creating immediate counter-pressure.

Why this is the only good move: By playing Bc4, you are creating a battery with your h5 to laser-focus on the weakest point in Black's camp: the f7 pawn. This move forces Black to respond to the threat of Qxf7+ rather than continuing their own development or solidifying their extra central pawn.

Why Other Moves Fail

The traps: Natural developing moves like Nc3 fail here because they ignore the tactical reality of the h5's placement. If you don't create a threat immediately, Black will consolidate their material advantage and leave your Queen stranded and vulnerable on the kingside.

How To Find The Only Good Move

Step 1 — Recognize the critical moment: Black has an extra pawn and a strong center. You cannot play "normal" chess; you must find a forcing sequence to disrupt their coordination.

Step 2 — Eliminate the traps: Checking with Bb5+ looks tempting, but after Bd7, White has no follow-up and has helped Black develop.

Step 3 — Verify the solution: The engine shows that after Bc4 g6 Qb5+ c6 Qb3, White maintains pressure on f7 and b7, forcing Black to play precisely to keep their edge.

📚 Pattern: The f7-Weakness. In the opening, the f7 square is the most vulnerable point because it is only defended by the King. Combining a Bishop and Queen to attack it is a fundamental attacking motif.
